Last August, our partners at University College Dublin hosted an exciting workshop on soil organic matter and greenhouse gas emissions modeling. Held in the vibrant city of Dublin, Ireland, the event aimed to equip early-career scientists in the TRUESOIL project with fundamental knowledge in deterministic modeling and practical training using a biogeochemical model.
Over the course of five days, ten TRUESOIL researchers, traveling from as far as Finland and Chile, came together to deepen their expertise. Through interactive sessions and hands-on exercises, participants gained the tools to calibrate models using field data and explore scenarios of alternative agricultural practices and climate conditions.
This training marks a significant step for the TRUESOIL project. It empowers our teams to investigate trade-offs between soil organic carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions in agroecosystems, fostering innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture.
